Bukedo, the local term for banana leaf stalks in Uganda, is a versatile material that, along with raffia from palm trees, offers a sustainable and abundant resource for local artisans. The weaving group behind these crafts is committed to empowering women through their handicrafts, creating opportunities for many other women in their community.

These woven trays are crafted by coiling and tightly wrapping smooth raffia over baked stalks, resulting in a uniquely embellished design.
